بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمـَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
Assalaamu ‘alaikum!
It is with sadness that I must announce, for the first time ever, that I am terminating business relations with an online bookstore (Ummahzone.com) which has been marketing my books for the last few years. My permission to Ummahzone through an email sent several years ago, permitting Ummahzone to print (not publish) three of my books and to put them on sale on the basis of an agreement with certain conditions, is hereby cancelled.
It was perhaps, about one year ago that I was rudely awakened to the fact that Ummahzone was making CORRECTIONS to my books and printing those CORRECTED versions without my permission.
Many of my readers have been kind enough to contact me whenever they found typographical errors in my books, or when an Ayah of the Qur’an was quoted with an incorrect number, for example. I have invariably responded by thanking them, and by then making such corrections as are necessary, when that book was being reprinted. But at all times it is the author of a book who must decide on what is a mistake in his book, and what is not, and it is he who must authorize corrections in his books.
Ummahzone can, of course, continue to do what all other bookshops are doing, i.e., buying my books (which I have printed) from me at the regular bookseller discount, and then marketting them online at suggested retail prices. But Ummahzone is no longer permitted to print any of my books and to then market them.
with sadness,
Imran N. Hosein
